Australia’s Marc Leishman grabbed the early clubhouse lead after an eight-under-par 64 in the third round of The Open at St Andrews.
Leishman made eight birdies and is
and one behind second-round leader Dustin Johnson.
After two days of adverse weather, which meant
for only the second time, the Old Course was defenceless on Sunday.
Johnson and Willett tee off at 15:00 BST and with the wind not expected to strengthen, it is likely they will be chasing a very low clubhouse score.
England’s Eddie Pepperell was 10 under after 16 holes but sliced his drive at the 17th into the Old Course Hotel, made a double-bogey and finished with a 66 for eight under.
Rickie Fowler, the world number five and winner of last week’s Scottish Open, fired a 66 to get to seven under on an increasingly congested leaderboard.
Former US Open champion Jim Furyk is six under after a third-round 66, as is English amateur Ashley Chesters after a 67.
