Australia set up NZ title decider

Australia scored three second-half tries to defeat Argentina 34-9 in Mendoza and set up a Rugby Championship title decider against New Zealand.

The Wallabies had led 8-6 at half-time before Dean Mumm, Tevita Kuridrani and Adam Ashley-Cooper crossed the line.

The bonus-point victory moves Australia level with the All Blacks with nine points at the top of the table.

The two teams will meet in Sydney on 8 August, when the winners will also claim the Bledisloe Cup title.

Australia captain Stephen Moore said he was looking forward to the “massive game at our home ground”.

Moore, 32, also said he was “very proud” of his side’s performance in Argentina, having been frustrated for much of the match by a team who had

defeated them 21-17

in last year’s competition, won by New Zealand.

“It’s always hard to come over here,” he said. “It was hard work in the first half but, similar to South Africa last week, our bench came on and really made a big difference.”

New Zealand, who have held the Bledisloe Cup for 10 matches since 2011, condemned South Africa to a second defeat in this season’s Rugby Championship with a

27-20 victory

in Johannesburg on Saturday.

This year the four teams involved in the competition are playing each other only once instead of twice because of the World Cup, which starts in England on 18 September.
