With our firm faith in the resurrection, We bid farewell to our beloved Mrs. Lawrence Kamel Mofattah, a beloved member of our community. She departed from this world last Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in the
United States of America.
Mrs. Mofattah dedicated the final years of her life to battling illness, all while surpassing the remarkable age of 85.
Mrs. Lawrence Kamel Mofattah was a remarkable individual who dedicated over half of her life to research at the esteemed American University, as well as to serving the church.
Her contributions to Coptic music heritage were significant, paving the way for the revival of Coptic liturgical melodies.
Together with her uncle, Dr. Ragheb Mofattah, she diligently recorded and preserved this precious musical heritage in the Library of Congress in the United States.
Mrs. Lawrence Kamel Mofattah’s dedication to preserving Coptic music and heritage was unwavering until her very last day.
She continued to write and record the rich musical traditions of the Coptic Church, with the intention of publication and preservation in the Library of Congress.
Her efforts have resulted in a collection of nearly 1,200 pages in English, ensuring that this cherished heritage will forever be celebrated and remembered.
Today, we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman whose contributions to our community will be remembered for generations to come.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family, particularly her
daughters, Dr. Iris Suleiman Dr. Doreen Soliman Dr. Dina Soliman .
Let us remember Mrs. Lawrence Kamel Mofattah for her dedication, passion, and indelible mark on Coptic music and heritage
. May the Lord repose her pure soul in the Paradise of Joy, , and may her memory be eternally cherished.
